Mealime closes on 21 October 2026
Mealime has announced that its app shuts down on 21 October. Its recipes are moving to Albertsons' grocery apps as Meals Hub. Read Mealime's own notice for what happens to your account, and save any plans or recipes you want to keep before the 21st.
If you're looking for somewhere else to plan the week, here's what Subtotal does, and what it doesn't.
What Subtotal does
- Plans the week's meals from who's eating, what to avoid and how you usually eat: which meals, which days, leftovers for lunch.
- Keeps the week to a budget you set, using the prices you scan off shelf tickets in the store.
- Writes the shopping list, with what to buy, what each meal uses and on which days.
- Carries ingredients across the week so the packs you buy get used.
- Lets you swap a meal, skip a dish or ask for a different week.
Nothing to switch off
Subtotal has no account and no server. Your plans, lists and prices are kept on your iPhone, so there's no service behind them to close.
What it doesn't do
- It doesn't import recipes from websites or from Mealime.
- It isn't a recipe library to browse. Meals are planned for you, then you can swap them.
- It runs on iPhone only.
- It gives general guidance, not medical or dietary advice. Recipes vary by brand and country, so check labels too.
