How to save your Mealime recipes and plans before 21 October 2026

By Robin Lange · · updated

Mealime closes on 21 October 2026, and all personal data is deleted when the app shuts down. As of October 2026, Mealime doesn’t offer an export or data download, so anything you want to keep needs saving before the 21st. On a computer, a free unofficial Chrome extension saves your favourites in one go, plus your meal plans, own recipes and notes if your account is on Mealime’s newer web app. Without it, print recipes and grocery lists to PDF from the Mealime web app, screenshot your current plan, and copy any notes you’ve written. Mealime says Pro subscribers won’t be charged again, and the recipes themselves are moving to Meals Hub inside Albertsons Companies’ grocery apps.

What happens to Mealime on 21 October?

Mealime’s closing notice says the app will be discontinued as of 21 October 2026, and its App Store update of 2 October repeats that date. The notice says Albertsons Companies bought Mealime in 2021, and that its recipes and meal-planning tools now live on as Meals Hub, from the same team.

Mealime’s FAQ puts it plainly: “All personal data will be deleted when the Mealime application is shut down.” That includes favourites, meal plans and eating preferences. To use Meals Hub, you create or sign in to an Albertsons Companies store app account, and the notice says some preferences and settings need setting up again there.

Can I export my Mealime data?

Not from Mealime itself. The closing notice and the help pages on printing, sharing and cancelling don’t mention an export or data download. An unofficial Chrome extension can save your recipes as files; it’s the first of the tools below. Mealime does support printing, and any print dialog can save a PDF instead. Mealime’s own help pages suggest that for sharing a list. PDFs, plus a screenshot of your plan and a copy of your notes, make a full record.

How to save your recipes and plans, step by step

  1. Make a short list of what you’d miss. Open your saved recipes and your current meal plan in the app and note the recipes you cook again and again.
  2. Log in to the web app. Go to app.mealime.com on a computer and sign in with your Mealime details. Mealime notes that recipes can’t be printed from the iPhone or Android app, only from the web.
  3. Save each recipe as a PDF. Open a recipe, scroll to the bottom and click the printer icon under the instructions. In the print window, choose Save as PDF rather than a printer. The printout has the cookware, ingredients and method.
  4. Save your grocery list. In the web app, open Grocery List from the Meal Plan screen, scroll to the bottom and click the printer icon, then save as a PDF. On iPhone, you can also tap More, then Print, in the grocery list.
  5. Copy your recipe notes. If you added notes to recipes, open each one and check whether the notes appear in your PDF. If they don’t, copy them into Apple Notes or a document alongside the recipe name.
  6. Screenshot your current week. A quick screenshot of the meal plan screen keeps a record of which recipes you’d lined up together.
  7. Keep everything in one folder. Put the PDFs and screenshots in one place, such as a Files or iCloud Drive folder called “Mealime recipes”, so you can find them next month.

Tools that save your recipes for you

As of 8 October 2026, four tools do some of this for you. Two save files you keep; two are recipe apps that pull Mealime recipes into their own library. On a computer, start with the extension. On a phone, MealPot and Mealfolder work from recipe links or names.

Whichever you use, open a few of the saved recipes before the 21st and check the ingredients and steps came through.

Can I move Mealime recipes into another recipe app?

Sometimes. Many Mealime recipes have public pages at mealime.com/recipes, and some recipe managers can save recipes from web pages:

Neither says whether it reads mealime.com pages well, so save one recipe first and check its ingredients and steps before doing the rest. Keep the PDFs regardless.

What happens to my Mealime Pro subscription?

Mealime says Pro subscribers “will not be charged any additional subscription fees” before the app closes, and that all Pro recipes and features are now available to every Mealime user. Mealime’s notice doesn’t mention refunds.

If you’d like to check that nothing is still set to renew:

Where do Mealime recipes go next?

To Meals Hub, inside Albertsons Companies’ store apps and websites. You’ll find it by tapping More in the bottom right corner of the app, then Meals Hub. Mealime says Meals Hub is free, includes every Mealime recipe plus thousands more, and still lets you plan meals and make shopping lists even if you can’t shop at one of its stores. The store apps include Safeway, Albertsons, Vons, Jewel-Osco, Shaw’s, ACME and Tom Thumb; they’re in the App Store in the US and Canada.

Can I delete my data sooner?

Yes. Mealime says everything is deleted at shutdown anyway, but you can ask sooner: in the app, go to Settings, tap Contact Us, then Delete your account, or email hello@mealime.com with the subject “Delete my account”. Save your recipes first, because deleting your account erases your plans and favourites.

If you mostly used Mealime to plan the week

If Mealime was mostly how you planned dinners and wrote the list, Subtotal covers that. Give it a weekly budget and it plans the meals, writes the list with amounts and the days each item is for, then keeps a running total while you scan shelf prices. It has no recipe library to import into, because it plans the meals itself, and it has no account: everything lives on your iPhone.

Subtotal is for iPhone (iOS 17 or later) and arrives on the App Store in October 2026. Planning the week is US$4.99 once, and the scanner is free for your first three shopping trips.
